Dr Basavaraju R holds a PhD in in Development Studies from the University of Mysore. He has over 15 years’ experience as a researcher, strategic expert, public policy professional, project leader, teacher and trainer both at the grassroots and policy level. He has been part of various policy making and advisory committees formed by State Governments and Corporate sector actors in India. He hasauthored the Vision 2025 Document of Government of Karnataka on Skill Development, Employment and Livelihood and was also the Principal Consultant for preparing the Strategic Focus Document for Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Mission at its inception stage (2012-13).
He was an Invited Fellow of Employment and Disability Institute of ILR School of Cornell University. He has demonstrated his ability in designing and executing multi-state, mixed methods Research Studies and Impact Evaluations and advocating for policy/program change. He has been Principal Investigator / Co-PI for over 10 research and evaluation studies funded by ILO, World Bank, Cornell University, Govt of Karnataka to name the few.
He has published and presented academic papers in various national and international research conferences. He has the member of several Government and Corporate advisory committees. Prior to GRAAM, Dr. Basavaraju headed the state child labour resource center of Government of Karnataka previously. He pearheaded the process of formulating child labour policy and action plan, bimonthly newsletter and web based child labour tracking system. He was the head of projects at Vivekananda Institute of Leadership Development.
