While India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant will be inaugurating the Model G20 Summit in the presence of Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President of ICCR and Vice Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Ming Foong Cheong, Consulate General of Singapore in Mumbai will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory and the prize distribution ceremony.
Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership (IIDL) is organizing a first of its kind Model G20 Summit in the country to celebrate India’s G20 presidency.
The two-day Model G20 Summit will be held on January 30-31, 2023 at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini’s Uttan campus near Mumbai. India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant will be inaugurating the Model G20 Summit in the presence of Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President of ICCR and Vice Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini who will Chair the inauguration ceremony.
Ming Foong Cheong, Consulate General of Singapore in Mumbai (who is a guest invitee of G20) will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory and the prize distribution ceremony.
“Model International Leaders Meet (MILM) is organised every year to orient the youth towards international relations and functioning of international agencies. This is a special year for India with the Presidency of G20 and we thought it would be a good idea to theme this year’s MILM on G20 and take G20 beyond the diplomatic corridors and to the youngsters of the country.” shared Devendra Pai, Director of IIDL Model G20.
Throughout the two days, the students will get in the roles of G20 member countries and discuss on various political and social issues across the four committees or tracks, namely Leader track, Sherpa track, Civil20 and Business20. Discussions ranging from global peace to democratising of the world economic order will be on the agenda.
Around 150 youngsters from across the country have registered for the two day event. For these two days, the participants will get in the roles of delegates representing the G20 countries. The best two delegates will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, the parent organisation of IIDL is also the secretariat of the G20 Civil Society engagement group – Civil20.
