For the first in India, a structured Post-Graduate course to comprehensively understand leadership-science, politics and governance has been launched. Mumbai based Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), a training and research academy working for capacity building of people’s representatives, political party workers as well as voluntary social workers has recently set-up Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership (IIDL) which has launched a one of its kind Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Leadership, Politics and Governance.
Rajya Sabha MP and Vice Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, said the course aims to “broaden the scope of leadership-science and not confine leadership to from the limited area of management science.” He said this PGP was a unique inter-disciplinary course designed to bridge the gap between India’s young talent and India’s democratic polity and governance.
He further added, extensive exposure, sound knowledge, deeper understanding and collective mentoring are the four main pillars of the academic programme of IIDL.
The course will follow a trimester pattern and have three parts –
i. Politics and Democracy
ii. Leadership and Management
iii. Governance and Public Policy
All the parts will be compulsory and would carry an equal weightage along with having its own set of assignments and examinations to assess the performance of the participants. “What makes this course unique is the approaching to teaching and learning. The teaching methodology will be a mix of academic and experiential learning as IIDL believes it is importance to both classroom teaching and experiential learning” shared Ravi Pokharna, Project Officer, RMP.
Established in 1982 in memory of late Parliamenterian Rambhau Mhalgi, RMP is a unique academy working for training and orientation of socio-political activists & on research projects.
