Mumbai based Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership (IIDL) invites applications for the fifth batch of its Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Leadership, Politics and Governance.
Initiated by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), IIDL’s course is a one of its kind structured Post Graduate course to comprehensively understand leadership-science, politics and governance. The Programme is targeted at students and young professionals who wish to build a career in the field of politics, governance, public affairs and leadership.
The course spans over one year covering lessons in politics, leadership, management, governance and policy. The lectures are taken by academicians, politicians, ministers, civil servants, journalists, social activists and subject experts. It also includes periodic field visits to government offices, voluntary organisations, diplomatic missions, offices of political parties and so on. The course also includes three-week long election study tour during Vidhan Sabha elections in a state and a tour of the national capital.
In the last four years, IIDL students have had lectures by eminent academicians and subject experts from their respective fields which include BJP President JP Nadda, Cabinet Ministers Nitin Gadkari, and Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Ministers Faggan Singh Kulaste, Purshottam Rupala former Governor of UP Ram Naik, farmer leader Pasha Patel, Counsel General of Israeli Consulate, Asst. DGP and Chief of Maharashtra ATS Atulchandra Kulkarni, Former Election Commissioner TS Krishnamurthy, Management Guru Radhakrishnan Pillai, Psephologist Jai Mrug, RTI activist and former CIC Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi, former Sarpanch of Punsari Village Himanshu Patel, Psychologist Dr Harish Shetty, Author Shantanu Gupta, Social Activist and co-founder Prerna Pravin Patkar and so on.
The Lectures were accompanied by field visits to places like Vidhan Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, Political Party offices, Municipal Corporations, Govt offices like Central Railways Headquarters, Bombay High Court, Dharavi slums, and Tribal villages in Jawhar district, Consulate General of United States of America, Parliament of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan and more.
The course recognised by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) concludes with a one-month internship with a political party, politician, elected representative, think tank, media house and so on. Students in the past have interned with Union Minister Arjun Munda, Deputy CM Dinesh Trivedi, BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh, MPs VD Sharma, CR Patil, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Meenakshi Lekhi, former Jharkhand Minister Ajay Chandrakar, UP BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh, election war rooms, think tanks and so on.
