More than 100 people marched from Churchgate station to CSMT in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The march was led by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Aniket Ovhal (31), national secretary, ABVP, and Devendra Pai (31) from the Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership, had organised it.
“The law has been heavily misinterpreted by people who, in the wake of fabricated social media posts, have failed to understand its benefits designed to help people get their rightful citizenship,” said Ovhal. “It is not just students who are supporting the Act but many from the working class realize how regularization of immigrants is beneficial,” said Pai.
