For the first in India, a structured Post-Graduate course to comprehensively understand leadership-science, politics and governance was launched by Mumbai based Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), a training and research academy working for capacity building of people’s representatives, political party workers as well as voluntary social workers.
In 2017, RMP set-up Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership (IIDL) which launched a one of its kind Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Leadership, Politics and Governance.
He further said, that the Post Graduate was a unique inter-disciplinary course designed to bridge the gap between India’s young talent and India’s democratic polity & governance. The Programme is targeted at students and young professionals who wish to make career in the field of politics, governance, public affairs and leadership.
“It is a nine month residential programme. We have 30 seats and the third batch will be commencing from August 1” shared the Dean of IIDL and Director General of RMP, Ravindra Sathe while interacting with the press today. He also shared that IIDL follows a unique teaching methodology which consists of classroom lectures by academicians, subject experts and politicians across party lines, practical training in parliamentary and UN procedures as well as in filing RTIs and PILs followed by field visits to various political party offices and government offices, ground-level exposure to elections, surveys and so on.
Sathe further added the above academic calendar is followed by an internship with a political office/politician/think tank/media house depending on the interest and the skill-sets of the students. The first two batches of the course had students from all parts of the country including states like Tamil Nadu and Assam.
Established in 1982, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) is a unique academy working for training and orientation of socio-political activists & on research projects. RMP has an excellent state-of-the-art training facility known as Knowledge Excellence Centre (KEC) near Mumbai spread over 15 acres of land. RMP-KEC will be the host campus for the PGP course being conducted by IIDL.
